PUTRAJAYA: PAS is leaving it to the wisdom of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to appoint his Cabinet, without placing any requests or conditions.
Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, however, suggests that the appointments be made among professionals, particularly to boost the economy.
“I would like to state that PAS does not have any requests or conditions as the Prime Minister forms his Cabinet,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 4).
Hadi said that PAS is of the view that professionals are also needed to improve areas in education, health and people’s welfare.
“We also propose the setting up of the role of hisbah (ombudsmen) in the new administration,” he said.
Muhyiddin was sworn in as Prime Minister before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on March 1.
In his first address to the nation, Muhyiddin pledged to appoint Cabinet members of calibre who have integrity and a clean track record.
He also said that he is aware that the people want a clean and corrupt-free government; one that works with integrity.
“The government that will also prioritise efforts to enhance integrity and good governance,” he said.
